When a tooth is unrestorable, an extraction can be performed. Arrangements can be made for referral to an oral surgeon for difficult or surgical extractions such as wisdom teeth.
When can extractions be needed?
Most extractions are simple and involves removing the teeth seen above the gums. Simple extractions are performed under local anaesthesia and in some cases, sedation. Extractions that removes teeth or their roots from below the gum line require surgery under general anaesthesia. For more complex extractions, City Beach Dental can refer patients to oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
