Children’s Dentistry

All aspects of general dentistry are performed on children in a peaceful, supportive environment. Your child will be entertained and distracted during treatment by a ceiling mounted TV.

All efforts are made to instruct and encourage good oral hygiene practices. Children are instructed in effective tooth brushing techniques and flossing to maintain the health of their teeth and gums.

We screen and monitor your child’s developmental and orthodontic status and will advise when we feel it appropriate to seek specialist assessment and treatment by an orthodontist.

Many children have deep fissures on the biting surface of their permanent molars (6 year and 12-year molars). This developmental anomaly allows food to easily collect in these fissures and increase the potential for decay. By cleaning these fissures and placing a plastic film (fissure seal), food can’t collect in the fissure and therefore reduces the chance of tooth decay.

We participate in the Medicare-funded Child Dental Benefits schedule. This covers the majority of dental treatment to a cost of $1000 over 2 years. For more information, visit – www.humanservices.gov.au/childdental.
